Satellite District Bridging Camp

Wild, Wild West
June 19 - 21, 2009

Howdy Folks, Satellite District held it's annual Bridging Camp June 19- 21, 2009 at Camp Creina. The theme this year was the Wild, Wild, West.

Our Spark, Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders and Rangers were split into groups called Poker Alice, Pearl Heart, Kitty Leroy, Belle Star, Sally Skull and Calamity Jane. All participants received their western wear upon arrival.

The first group craft on Friday night was making stage coaches. Saturday started off with craft stations where our cowgirls made chuck wagons, pony pals, sheriff badges, western jewels, cowgirl costumes and attended the "Lucky Photo Gallery" for a group photo.

After an incredible barbecue hosted by our "Three Mice" (Nancy Harvey, Tracy Harvey & Kathleen Bouch) the groups returned to the main field where they were greeted by square dancers who showed the girls how to square dance. (Thank you Velma). Rounding out the fun was our first Satellite District Rodeo, where our cowgirls participated in barrel racing with their "Pony Pals" and had a shoot out at the OK Corral.

On Sunday we had Reflections down by the Koksilah River led by Genevieve Singleton, a very special moment. Reflections was followed by our District Advancement Ceremony and Closing. A rip snortin' good time was had by all.

Special thanks goes to the following people, Janice Frueh, Dana Wood, Mavourneen Hourigan, Corey O'Connell, Eryn Beattie, Mary D'Isendoorn, Genevieve Singleton and last but certainly not least our favourite Camp Cooks, Nancy Harvey, Tracy Harvey and Kathleen Bouch. Ladies, the food was fantastic.
