Camp Creina Expansion

The Camp Creina Committee is working towards building a new structure beside Maple Lodge to provide a bunk bed sleeping area with flush toilets. We are applying for funding through BC Council’s Capital Grant process. For this we need quotes on each phrase of the project. To date, we have completed the perk test and have preliminary drawings completed. With today’s industry boom it has been hard to get contractors to give quotes as there is so much work available to them. We are now looking for quotes on, first, the septic system, then the concrete slab/foundation and then the building. If any member has a contact that would be interested in providing a quote please contact us asap to view the plans. We are also open to any ‘in-kind’ donations of time or labour as the project proceeds.

Camp Creina Equipment Clean-out

Several items, including used camp stoves, will be available at garage sale prices. These will be available at the workparty. Now is the time to stock up on extra camping equipment for either next years camping season or to have on hand over the winter when we all experience power failures!!

International Barbeque

The Skies opened up but the BBQ & Campfire were a success. We were lucky to have a picnic shelter as well as strung some ropes and tarps to give us extra room. We improvised the campfire with Candles as there was a citywide fire ban even though with the weather it did not seem as it should be so.

48 people had confirmed coming to the BBQ although we only had 37 soggy troopers in attendance. Several extras attended just the campfire.

The meal included Hot dogs with all the dressings, Caesar Salad, Coleslaw, Carrots & Dip, Munchie Chips, dessert was Nanaimo Bars and Mint GG Cookies. Pop and water.

Thanks to Linda Janes for getting the wieners donated and the 3 boxes of GG Cookies came from my freezer as a donation. Thank you to Patti Salewski for running the campfire, hearing each of our international groups sing taps to end the night just topped everything off. I also would like to thank Margot Herten who was my right hand in putting on this event.

The Mexican Leader Estela that stayed with me also used this time just before we started the campfire to present to one of her girls a pin; my understanding was that it would be similar to our Canada Cord and they usually have a large ceremony for this presentation.
